Reroof project Long Beach Ca.

January 28, 2026

Reroof project Long Beach Ca.

Shulman Roofing Inc. completed a full reroof in Long Beach, CA, replacing an old shingle roof from top to bottom. The project began with a complete removal of the existing shingles so the roof deck and framing could be inspected and repaired where needed.

Once the old roofing material was off, our crew inspected the roof rafters and identified areas of damage. We repaired the damaged roof rafters to restore structural support and ensure the roof framing could carry the new materials correctly. We also replaced damaged eaveboard to provide a solid edge and proper attachment for the new trim and flashing.

After the structural repairs, we installed new painted 2x2 edge metal around the perimeter. This metal edge gives a clean, finished look to the roof line and helps protect the eaves and fascia from water intrusion and wear at the edges.

For underlayment we used GAF SynthiTEC TigerPaw. This synthetic underlayment is installed over the roof deck to act as a secondary weather barrier and to give a consistent base for the new shingles. Proper underlayment installation is an important step that helps the new roof perform as intended.

All roof penetrations received new pipe flashing, and we installed new chimney flashing as well. Updating flashing around pipes and chimneys is a key part of a reroof because those areas are common sources of leaks when left unattended. New flashing helps create watertight transitions between the roof and those features.

The finished roofing material is GAF HDZ RS shingles with a high profile ridge. These shingles were installed across the roof field, and matching high profile ridge shingles were applied along the ridges to complete the look. The ridge profile provides a defined, finished appearance at the top of the roof.

Throughout the project our crew followed a clear sequence, moving from removal and structural repairs to edge metal, underlayment, flashing, and shingle installation. That step-by-step approach keeps the work efficient and makes sure each layer is installed correctly before the next one goes on.

Work included removing the old roofing materials and installing the new system so the roof has a complete, integrated set of components. Homeowners in Long Beach, CA can expect a roof that was rebuilt from the deck up with the materials specified, including repaired rafters, replaced eaveboard, painted edge metal, GAF SynthiTEC TigerPaw underlayment, new pipe and chimney flashing, and GAF HDZ RS shingles with a high profile ridge.
